| A few words... | Lara Roja is a corrupt king of the Ahom dynasty in the 17th century. His fear that Prince Godapani might come into power drives him crazy. Lara Roja attempts to kill Godapani, but he fails and Godapani flees the kingdom. Lara Roja wants to force princess Joymoti to reveal her husbands hiding place. Joymoti remains silent and dies after seven days of severe torture. With his very progressive style Jyoti Prasad Agarwala founded the Assamese talkies. He refused theatre-like acting and created a very modern style of cinematography inspired by the Russian filmmaker Lev Kuleshov. However, Agarwala's film was not appreciated by the Assamese audience. |
