| A few words... | In a small village in Bihar Ketki (Madhuri Dixit) marries Vinay (Ayub Khan) the son of the landlord. Her husband's brother (Mohan Agashe) repeatedly abuses his wife Chandravati (Shabana Azmi). Like his brother Vinay also maltreats Ketaki. When Chandravati get to know the lower cast Rambaran (Om Puri) they fall in love. Having found out about the relationsship the feudal landlords sentence the lovers to death. But Ketki and Chandravati begin to rebel and fight back. Prakash Jha is one of the few directors in the 1990s, who mastered the fusion of commercial cinema and art house film. |
