A few words...The former cop Thakur Baldev Singh asks for the help of two gangsters Jaidev and Veeru to fight the dacoit Gabbar Singh, who regulary threatens and raids the farmers in Thakur's village. Jaidav and Veeru agree and go to the village, where they meet Radha the widow of Thakur's son and the rickshawwali Basanti. How Jaidev and Veeru fight Gabbar Singh with the support of their ladies and the village people forms the rest of the plot.

  • Sholay was the first India movie to be shot in the 70 mm format. Its cinematography remains outstanding in the 1970s. Another attraction of the movie was its stereophonic soundtrack.
  • Sholay was shot near the small village Ramnagaram, which is located near Bangalore in the state of Karnataka.
  • Not only the songs of Sholay, but also its dialogues became famous and were sold on special cassettes. The most famous dialogue is the "Kitne Aadmi The"-dialogue between Gabbar and his gang.
