Saran is one of the most promising young directors of Tamil Nadu. He graduated from the Collega of Arts in Chennai and became a cartoonist working for the leading Tamil magazine "Ananda Vikadan". A newbie to films he to work as an assistent director to the famous K. Balachander, whom Saran calls his guru.
Saran first direction was Kaadhal Mannan in 1998 and since then he has directed ten Tamil films - his eleventh film is currently in the making. Saran has also lauchned his own production house Gemini Productions. Saran's biggest successes so far were the film Gemini and Vasool Raja MBBS - the remake of the Hindi blockbuster Munnabhai MBBS.
