Farah Khan

In Indian cinema the choreographer has a very important role. When Bollywood was ruled by choreographer Saroj Khan, Farah Khan entered Hindi cinema in the early 1990s with Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. With 1942 - A Love Story and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge she soon had two hits and settled as one of the most important contemporary dance directors of India. Farah Khan worked with Shah Rukh Khan in many of his films: Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, English Babu Desi Mem, Dil To Pagal Hai, Dil Se, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and others.

For his home production Main Hoon Na Shah Rukh Khan decided to give Farah Khan the chance for a debut as director. The decision proved to be a wise one. With Main Hoon Na Farah Khan created a Bollywood hit, which is a classical Hindi film on the one hand, but also a comic style satire on the other hand. After her Happy New Year was shelved, Farah Khan's second direction Om Shanti Om produced by Shah Rukh Khan became the Bollywood super hit of the year 2007.

Farah Khan is married to the film editor and director Shirish Kunder.
